Breaking down barriers into the workforce for people with a disability and mental illness
WAAMH's Submission to Disability Royal Commission
IPS WORKS and WAAMH recently submitted feedback for the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability Employment Issues Paper. Individual Placement and Support has consistently proven to be effective in achieving outcomes for individuals with a disability. Access to quality support to undertake open competitive employment or education is a basic human right. Click on the heading to read our recommendations.

National IPS Trial
The Department of Social Services is funding the Individual Placement and Support Trial as part of the Australian Government’s Youth Employment Strategy to improve the educational and employment outcomes of young people with mental illness aged up to 25. Trials are being held at more than 20 selected headspace sites around Australia, with technical support implementing the IPS model provided by us here at IPS WORKS.
Preparing for interviews
During job interviews you are now more likely to be asked 'behavioural' style questions, seeking examples and experiences. These can be tricky to answer and it's easy to become flustered and feel under pressure.
